Susan Lankford is an Instructor of Historic Preservation at Ball State University. She received her BA in Art History from Indiana University and a MS in Historic Preservation from Ball State University. She teaches in the areas of preservation documentation, directed research, and preservation technology amongst others. Her research interests include the recent past, historic gas stations, and rightsizing initiatives.
Susan has worked as a Historic Preservation Consultant, and is designated as a Qualified Professional by the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology. She was also the Director of Ball State University’s Center for Historic Preservation, leading projects completed to date document historic structures, survey architectural resources, and promote community development through heritage preservation. Lankford is also a Grant Writer for the Cornerstone Center for the Arts, helping to raise $435,000 for operating support and building repairs in 2013. She has served as a Commission member for the Muncie Historic Preservation and Rehabilitation Commission, and was a member of the Muncie Façade Program Design Review and Selection Committee.
